3) This month Article: Teaming-up: To do or not to do?
Article:
If you've not the intention to start a career as a singer-songwriter, then your best shot is finding a singer that sings and perform your songs. It's only one example of how you can team-up. Singer and songwriter teaming up , this was in fact the idea behind the singer/band page. One thing thought I have not thought about. The visitors to my website are target visitors. With other words: Visitors that are seeking for songwriting and music business info.
And right , they can find that sort of info here. So.I will ( or better you will) have to find an other way to cooperate with a singer.
How to find a singer, that's fitting with your music.
You can start with looking or browsing Myspace.com and Youtube.com
If you don't find them there , you'll find...and so further...
That's how the idea came to write an article about some way or way's of working together or teaming-up.As I told you before, some singer-songwriter are doing it all by themselves. They compose the music, write the lyrics, record the demo and perform the music on stage.
They are a so called "one man business" company.
Bands are mostly not a one man business, and they have to work together. Wanting or not.
But for pure songwriters, teaming-up can be an improvement. You have more time to concentrate you on that one thing you can do best. And..you can always give suggestions for a song in particularly, if you which to do so.
What teams can be made?
First of all: The lyric writer , tune or melody writer connection is the most common one.
Second: Songwriter - singer connection: A songwriter and a singer making a deal. The songwriter writes the songs the singer makes the recording and performs the songs on stage. Both profits of this collaboration.
The songwriter generates the royalties from the copy rights. The singer has an income from the CD sales and the gigs he will do. So, it's a win-win.
Third: They can make a whole team with 3 or more team members, all working together writing that CD that must amaze the world. These teams exists in the united states, and they do it for a record labels, and mostly also for a singer with a reputation.
Teaming-up is not only a case for songwriter and musicians, but also for songwriters who want to start their own music business. But more about this subject in my next issue..( so I know something to write about next time)
And so we came to the end of this month article...
Thanks for your time and up to the next one...
Tip: It can happen to the best of us:
If you record your songs and tunes on a home computer, laptop. Never forget to back-up all your recording files. Do it Also with your lyrics. Print them or save them too on a CD. So,it's very important to make a back-up CDR with all your material, and keep it on a save place. You never knows what happens with your computer. A real tragedy for a songwriter, if you loose everything where you've worked so hard for.
