SongMaker!X-press, Issue # 70 FAQ about the song demo recording
September 08, 2013

Hi, Welcome to our latest issue of songmaker X-press..Special thanks to all the new subscribers to our free newsletter...

As you maybe already noticed.. The website has gone through some structural changes..All with one thing in mind.

To provide information as good as possible and even better..This takes time and in most case this makes it a bit confusing for search engines(Google) to rank you.. At first normally your rankings drop after making changes to your site. So, that's exactly what's happening at this moment with my songwriting information website..But I have good reasons to assume that in time it will come back to normal.

Enjoy this month newsletter..

Paul

Short introduction info about our website "Song-makes-musicbusiness.com".

Our site is about songwriting..with a lot of other news and information also.. Info about music business, music promotion, music recording... Why this website? A few years ago I decided to created this website to share all the knowledge that I 'I've gathered through the years.

I always say that I can't learn how to write a hit song, because if there was a recipe for hit songs, every one would writing hit songs, and hit-songs would become normal. Compare it as if everybody would know the winning numbers of the lottery..and hit the jackpot..

What I do is giving advice on how to promote, and record your songs as a professional would do. Also, I try to find resources that accept demo submissions, and that's probably the biggest work, and also very highly targeted by our site's visitors..

Our site "Song-makes-music-business.com" in numbers.

Article: FAQ About your song demo recording

Here some FAQ that I receive about demo recording....

Do I need a music producer for a song demo recording?

A music producer is an extra cost to your demo..True, a demo and the songs on your demo will improve 100%, but the cost will rise with the same amount.. Many of the established songwriters will use a producer because they know for sure the songs will get a steam of money.... So, a music producer will produce a brilliant demo recording, and when the songs are that great that they can compete with the today's high standards that in music business are recommended, then they will you pay back your expenses on the producer...

If you really think that this will be a move forward in your career , and that the cost will be worthwhile..Then I say, let have it a try..If it's working, alright, if not, then you are losing money, and... an illusion. But, the decision is up to you..

What is a mastering effect of demo recording?

When creating a CD from your recorded songs, you wish to have a nearly perfect recording, and mastering your recorded songs can be very helpful.. In addition, this means that you get all the levels from each section on your CD is set right..

Every instrument must perfectly be heard in perfect balance with the other sounds (depending on the song,of course), like the voice, guitar,drum... on your songs.. Some sounds that are difficult to hear for the human ear (lower range) can make the level meter going to a maximum, and still let sound your songs less powerfull..The mastering of the song will make that the song sounds more consistent, with each level a correct balance of the low frequency range. In fact, if you listen to your CD every song must have the same volume. It's really ignoring that one song sounds louder, or less powerful then an other.. That's what mastering can do.. It brings every song in balance with the others, and brings also the different levels of each section in your song to a perfect balance..

Is it difficult to create a mastering recording?

Well, most of digital recording devices that are on the market provide the possibility to create a mastering recording.. It takes some technical lessons, but it'll do the job as you wish that it would be done.. So, yes it's possible to create a mastering CD recording.

How much will a CD recording cost..

There are three ways to make a recording of your songs.. One : The home recording..Here goes the same thing as with the other two ways of recording..The better, or the higher you wish that the quality of your recording needs to be , the higher the cost of this recording will be.. A quality home recording means quality recording equipment, and a isolated room to record your songs..On the other hand, you can spend as much time on a recording as you wish..

A recording studio (in your own neighborhood or else where)could be a second choice..This can be a good solution, if you can play some instrument and singing the vocal parts of the song yourself.. If your song contains different instruments that you have to hiring all the musicians of each instrument and maybe a singer, then this recording could cost you a small fortune.

The advantage..You doesn't need to buy any recording equipment, and if you decide to quit music, you doesn't loose a lot of money. Third solution is the song demo recording service.. A specialized recording studio available on the Internet..They know what to do, and they offer you a recording at your wishes.. Simple or complicated.. They will do there best to record your songs to the highest standards.. This solution is probably the best solution for a beginner songwriter..

It's only a matter of doing some research on the world wide web, and remember that the most expensive doesn't necessarily gives you the best result, and the most cheap service gives not the worst recording.. Like I say, it only need to do some research..before doing business-and using your C card..It's a Internet business and then a credit card will be the only way to pay for the demo recording service..Just keep your eyes open..and make the right decision..
